A Personal Note I started writing Season of Stone after my father fell gravely ill. I hoped to record them before he left this world for his next great adventure, but it was not to be. My father passed away on a cold day in February, surrounded by his children. I recorded the songs a few weeks later. I arranged and performed them the way my Dad would have preferred: Live, without any frills. Each song was recorded in one shot, with its imperfections and moments of magic. You might hear the grief in my voice, too. My father and I lived in a few cities together and the mystery, adventure, fertile creative ground and dark underbelly of what a city is, are in my blood. Dad had an old-world attitude, but a new-world philosophy. He instilled in me the idea that men and women are equals, that personal liberty is the highest ideal, and that music, poetry, good food, a good book and love, are the true riches of life.
